Oldham: Man in his 40s dies following machinery accident

On Wednesday (November 29) morning, police were called to reports of an incident involving a man and some machinery at an address on Overens Street, an area which is largely known for industrial premises. The 41-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation has now been opened between Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Police have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesperson for GMP said in a statement: "Shortly before 10am on Wednesday 29 November, Greater Manchester Police received a report of an accident involving a man and machinery at a premises on Overens Street in Oldham. "A 41-year-old man was found with serious injuries, and sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. "Police are not treating the incident as suspicious at this stage.

"A joint investigation between GMP Oldham CID and the Health and Safety Executive has been launched to make enquiries into the circumstances that led to the man's death."

A spokesperson for the HSE said: "We are aware of this incident and assisting Greater Manchester Police with an investigation."
