Ollerton Road: Man dies in ‘tragic incident’ near Newark with road expected to be shut for hours
A pedestrian has died after he was reportedly hit by a car[1] near Newark. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning and the driver of the car was spoken to by police after stopping at the scene. Emergency services were called to Ollerton Road in Budby just after 4am on Saturday (December 23).
Paramedics treated the man, but he was declared dead shortly after 5am.
Roads were closed whilst the incident was dealt with and the road is expected to remain shut for several hours. Nottinghamshire Police[2] says no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Road Policing and Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man sadly died at the scene following this tragic incident and our thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time.”
