One dead, one injured in early morning crash in Bedford
BEDFORD — A tragic accident claimed the life of a young woman and injured another when a car crashed into a guardrail on I-293 south near Bedford on Dec.
21 at around 12:45 a.m. State Troopers arrived at the scene following reports of a single motor vehicle accident involving a Chevy Malibu. The initial investigation revealed that the car veered off the left side of the highway and struck the end cap of a guardrail.
The impact caused the car to spin and travel a distance down the road before coming to a stop. At the time of the accident, the car was carrying two young women. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification. The passenger, who was reportedly wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. The accident resulted in the closure of the I-293 ramp near Route 101 for about five hours as authorities conducted their investigation.
New Hampshire State Police continue to investigate all factors contributing to the crash and urge witnesses or those with additional information to come forward.
