One man was killed and two people were seriously injured in a shooting at a Colorado[2] mall on Christmas[3] Eve.

The shooting erupted after a fight broke out between two groups of people at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs, about 70 miles south of Denver, according to police.

Officials were called to the scene around 4.40pm – half an hour before it was scheduled to close Sunday.

A woman was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, which did not include gunshot wounds.

Multiple people were detained at the scene as part of the investigation, police said.

Officials are trying to determine which of them was the shooter.

The victims have not been named.

A witness named Travis told 11 News they heard several shots before chaos broke out.

‘I heard like, four at first, and then I see everybody running from the play gym area,’ the man told local media. ‘They were, like, telling everyone to get out and that’s when they just unleashed, it was, like, I don’t know how many gunshots there were after that.’

The mall was cleared by 8pm but is expected to remain closed until Tuesday.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.

It’s the second time in two days that shots rang out at a shopping mall as people went about their holiday shopping in what is the second-busiest purchasing day of the year.

A day earlier[4], one person was killed and another left injured after a shooting at a shopping mall in central Florida, and the shooter remains on the run.

The Ocala Police Department confirmed that one man was shot in the head and pronounced dead on the scene.

A woman, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, has been transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

The shooter is believed to be a black male wearing a dark hoodie, black pants and a mask partially covering his face, according to Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken.

Authorities responded to calls reporting an ‘active shooter’ at the Paddock Mall in Ocala, located 80 miles northwest of Orlando, at around 3.40 pm on Saturday.
