Pair fined almost ?1500 after driving at less than 70mph on motorway
The separate cases of both Mark Trimble and Luke Drummond were heard before the magistrates’ courts recently. The former, aged 47 and of Broad Lane in Grappenhall, appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on a charge of exceeding a variable speed limit The court hears how, on July 9, he drove a Ford Ranger on the M62 westbound, between junctions 12 for the M60 at Eccles and 11 for Birchwood.
He was snapped by an automatic camera device driving at 69mph – exceeding the temporary speed limit of 40mph at the time. As a result, he was ordered to pay a total of GBP1,014. This is broken down into a fine of GBP660, surcharge to fund victim services of GBP264 and court costs of GBP90.
In addition, his driving record was endorsed with six penalty points. Also before the courts was Drummond, aged 23 and of Duncansby Crescent in Great Sankey. Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court heard how he was driving on the M606 southbound in Kirlees, west Yorkshire, on May 29.
He was driving a Seat Arona at 67mph – exceeding the speed limit of 50mph and caught by an automatic camera device.
For doing so, he was ordered to pay a total of GBP454, broken down into a fine of GBP260, victim surcharge of GBP104 and court costs of GBP90.
Moreover, his driving record was endorsed with four penalty points.
