It happened on Cameron Avenue, north of University Avenue, just before midnight Wednesday, according to authorities.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle heading northbound at a “high rate of speed before losing control, hitting a tree and striking a parked car,” police said in a statement. A passenger in the vehicle — a 21-year-old man — was taken to hospital and pronounced dead, police say. The driver sustained what police are calling “serious injuries.”

Authorities say she’ll be charged with “dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death” and “impaired operation of a conveyance causing death.”
