Pedestrian in ‘critical condition’ after being struck by car

A man has been left in critical condition after being struck by a car in a ‘serious’ crash in Elgin. The collision, involving a pedestrian and a red Seat Toledo, happened on New Elgin Road around 3.10am on Saturday. The 30-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital and police confirmed he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man, was not injured. The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 10.30am. Road policing officers are now appealing for information following the incident on the A941.

Road policing sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either the car or pedestrian beforehand, to come forward. “In particular I would be extremely keen to speak to the driver of a white Ford Focus who was in the area at the time and may have vital information. “Similarly, I’d ask anyone with dashcam footage on the A941 around the time to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference 0547 of December, 30.”
