The crash took place on the A38 near to Gravelly Hill, Erdington. Emergency services closed off the A38M into Birmingham from Erdington, with motorists told to ‘avoid the area’ at the time. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries.

The driver involved in the collision remained on scene and is said to be helping police with their enquiries. West Midlands Police[2] urged anyone with information to contact them. A spokesman for the force said: “We were called following a collision involving a car and pedestrian on the A38 near Gravelly Hill at just before 8pm yesterday (8 December). A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The driver remained at the scene and is assisting our enquiries.
