Picture shows aftermath of Stockton crash which saw roof removed from car and man taken to hospital
A person has been taken to hospital following a crash in Stockton. Police, fire, and ambulance crews were called to Prince Regent Street, at its junction with Dovecot Street[1], after a car collided with the front of popular Italian restaurant Carpaccio. Images from the scene showed how emergency services swarmed the road, erecting a cordon across the street and forcing traffic to divert away from the usually busy route.
Fire crews were seen smashing and sawing at the front windscreen of the vehicle before removing the roof entirely. A man was then taken from the vehicle and onto a stretcher before entering the rear of an ambulance – with the North East Ambulance Service confirming it took one person to the University Hospital of North Tees[2] in Stockton. Two cordons were erected – one from Carpaccio’s to the opposite side of the road and another from KU Bar to the Domino’s takeaway shop.
Green sheets were placed between the fire engines and the Carpaccio restaurant to block the view for motorists using the nearby junction, with an orange cloth also covering the windscreen of the car.

The owner of Carpaccio confirmed that the front of the building was damaged, but that the restaurant is open as normal. Jawad Mohibi told Teesside Live at the scene: “The front has been damaged – part of the skirting board has popped out and at the front, the wood goes forward. “I have had a word with the builder and as soon as they clear the [incident] they will come.
It happened at about 11.18 am. There were two girls in at the time and we had a table booked for 12pm. We had to bring the customers in through the back door.”
A few metres away from the scene of the crash was a damaged BMW. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether this vehicle was involved in the incident.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.21 this morning to a road traffic incident on Dovecot Street, Stockton[3]. We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and one patient was transported to North Tees Hospital.”
A Cleveland Fire Brigade[4] spokesperson added: “We were called on December 11 at 11.27am to an incident on Dovecot Street in Stockton. Two fire engines from Stockton in attendance. One car road traffic collision.
“Crews assessed and stabilised the vehicle and removed person from vehicle who got took into the care of NEAS. We left the scene at 1.56pm.” Teesside Live is awaiting an update from Cleveland Police[5].
