Police ‘don’t approach warning’ as Stoke-on-Trent prisoners flee jail and head to Staffordshire
Two prisoners from Stoke-on-Trent have walked out of prison. Benjamin Pownall and Jack Humphries left the open prison, HMP Sudbury, at around 5.15pm yesterday (December 6). The pair then got into a vehicle which is believed to have travelled into Staffordshire.
Both have links to the Potteries and the public are being advised not to approach them. Pownall, 27, was serving four-year four-month jail sentence for robbery, weapons and driving offences when he absconded from the jail just off the A50 in Derbyshire. Humphries, 28, meanwhile had been jailed for seven-years and two months for drug offences.
StokeonTrentLive previously reported how Humphries[1] was arrested in June 2021 after a raid on an address in Heron Street, Heron Cross, uncovered cocaine worth GBP1,300, a tub of cannabis vegetation, two phones and a set of digital scales. While he was under investigation for that offence, the father-of-two, of Shelburne Street, was again caught with cocaine and criminal property at an address in Shelburne Street, Stoke[4], in March this year. A total of 13.83 grams of cocaine was found concealed inside the kitchen hob extractor fan. And more than GBP450 in cash, a machete, phone, deal bags and digital scales were also seized from the address.
Dad Humphries – who has multiple dating back to 2009 – pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis, and possession of cannabis with intent to supply on two separate occasions.
