Police incident in Rugby resolved after public told to ‘avoid area’

All roads have reopened after 999 crews resolved a concern for welfare incident in Rugby[1]. Emergency services were understood to be in dialogue with a man on top of a roof in Clifton Road. Buses were diverted and motorists were told shortly before 4pm to avoid the area where possible while the incident was being dealt with.

Warwickshire Police issued an update at about 4.40pm which said: “The situation has been resolved and access to the area is back to normal. Thank you for your patience.” No one was understood to have been injured in the incident.

A Stagecoach Midlands spokesperson had said: “Due to a police incident in Rugby buses are being diverted and suffering severe delays, please bear with us during this time.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service was approached for information.
