Police investigating early morning crash near Burley involving 3 semi-trucks
BURLEY – It’s not clear whether anyone was injured in a chain reaction collision involving three vehicles east of Burley early Saturday morning. The crash happened in the westbound lane of Interstate 84 just before 5 a.m., according to a news release from Idaho State Police. A 22-year-old man from Kent, Washington, whose name was not released, was driving a 2015 Volvo semi-truck.
The semi jackknifed and hit the guardrail. A 32-year-old man from Vero Beach, Florida behind the Volvo in a 2023 Freightliner semi-truck avoided hitting the Washington man’s vehicle but ran into the guardrail. A third semi, a 2020 Freightliner driven by a 54-year-old man from Grantsville, Utah, hit the Volvo and the guardrail.
ISP did not specify whether anyone was injured or their conditions, but an ambulance was reportedly dispatched. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt. The westbound lane finally reopened just before noon, ISP reported at 11:48 a.m.
ISP is grateful to the Idaho Transportation Department and Declo Fire Department for their assistance.
