Road policing officers have issued an appeal for information following a serious crash yesterday on the A96 at Auldearn. Three people were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where one woman is described as being in a critical condition. The incident happened about 4.40pm and involved a Black BMW Estate, a red Toyota Yaris and a green Toyota Hilux towing a trailer.

Emergency services were called to the scene and a man, aged 74, and two women, aged 51 and 74, from the Toyota Yaris were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment. The 74-year-old woman is described as being in a critical condition while the 51-year-old woman is said to be in a serious but stable condition. The road was closed while inquiries took place and re-opened about 1am today.

Sergeant David Miller said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or who was in the area around the time to contact us.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation, please get in touch.”
