Police issue CCTV appeal after chase involving car with fake number plates

Police are appealing for help after a fail to stop pursuit involving a car with fake number plates in Warrington[1]. The incident happened at around 1.30pm yesterday (December 5), when police tried to stop a grey Seat Leon on Neville Avenue. Officers pursued the vehicle through the Orford area.

During the incident, the car travelled down roads including Lock Avenue, Cooper Avenue, West Avenue, Clough Avenue, Burtons Green, Poplars Avenue, Poplars Road and Winwick Road. Police subsequently abandoned the pursuit, with the car later found abandoned near Moss Gate Park. A 45-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident and he has since been released under investigation.

They are particularly keen to hear from a member of the public who stopped a police car which was en route to the pursuit and provided a possible identity for the driver. They would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the driver fleeing the scene after abandoning the car.
