Police make arrest as biker killed in Staffordshire smash

A biker has died following a fatal crash in Staffordshire this morning. And police have made an arrest following the fatal collision on Burton’s Horninglow Road North. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.40am after receiving reports of a crash between a motorbike and a Mercedes.

The route was subsequently closed off until around 2pm. Staffordshire Police[1] have confirmed that sadly the rider of the motorbike, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokeswoman said: “His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this difficult time.”

The driver of the Mercedes, a man in his 30s, from Tamworth, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence, failing to stop after an accident and drink driving. He remains in custody this evening. Officers are appealing for witnesses – and those with CCTV or dashcam footage – to come forward.
