Police name man charged after car smashes through wall

Police have named a man charged after a car smashed through a wall on a North Staffordshire estate. Marcus Oultram, 32, from Leek, is accused of seven offences following the collision at around 3pm on Wednesday (December 27). The incident, on Novi Lane in Haregate, Leek, saw a silver Vauxhall Astra crash into a wall, partly demolishing it.

Police added an officer was assaulted, but stayed on duty and was not seriously injured. Oultram has been charged with driving whilst disqualified; driving a motor vehicle dangerously; failing to stop after a road accident; common assault of an emergency worker; using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress, aggravated vehicle taking and using a motor vehicle on a road without third-party insurance.

Oultram was due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (December 29).

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We went to Novi Lane, Leek, and found a silver Vauxhall Astra which had collided with a wall. An officer was assaulted but was not seriously injured and stayed on duty.”

Marcus Oultram, 32, from Leek, has been charged with driving whilst disqualified, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop after a road accident, common assault of an emergency worker, using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress, aggravated vehicle taking and using a motor vehicle on a road without third-party insurance.
