Police raid closed Ilfracombe nightclub

Two men from Ilfracombe have been charged with being concerned in the production of a Class B drug, namely cannabis. Ardion Gjonaj, aged 28, of High Street, Ilfracombe[1], and Ardit Lashi, aged 26, of no fixed abode, Ilfracombe, will appear before Exeter[2] Magistrates Court today (December 7). It comes after the men were arrested during a police raid on the temporarily closed Digz Nightclub on High Street.

The raid took place at around 10.15am on Wednesday (December 6) after Devon and Cornwall Police obtained a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant. A police spokesperson confirmed a “substantial number of suspected cannabis plants” were located at the premises across a number of floors. A scene guard remains in place at the address.

A police statement reads: “Ardion Gjonaj, aged 28, of High Street, Ilfracombe, and Ardit Lashi, aged 26, of no fixed abode, Ilfracombe, have been charged with being concerned in the production of a Class B drug [Cannabis].

“Both men are due before Exeter Magistrates Court today, 7 December.”
