PSP: 70-year-old man’s check to charity was illegally altered
KUNKLETOWN, Pa. – A 70-year-old Kunkletown man is the victim of an attempted check fraud. Pennsylvania State Police say the incident occurred sometime between Dec.
1 and Dec.
8 — after the man mailed a £10 check to a charity organization. A media release from police did not name the charity.
Police say the check was illegally altered and the dollar amount changed to £3,800.
The victim’s financial institution denied the processing of the check.
State Police are investigating the incident.
