Recap on A505 traffic updates today as crash blocked road between Royston and Bridgefoot

A busy Cambridgeshire A-road was closed following a crash today (Tuesday, December 12). The A505 was shut to traffic in both directions between Bridgefoot and Royston, just across the border in Hertfordshire. The crash was first reported at around 6.43am.

The road was reported to have reopened by 9.37am. Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “Traffic easing, accident cleared on A505 in both directions from Melbourn turn off (Bridgefoot) to Meridian Gate Roundabout (Royston).mSensors show traffic is running through.” Hertfordshire Police urged drivers to avoid the area.

A spokesperson said: “There was a two vehicle collision on the A505 near Royston at around 6am this morning. The road was closed west bound after Flint Cross whilst we dealt with the incident. Ambulance were called as one driver had minor injuries.

The scene has been handed over to the highways team .”
