Road closed in Nuneaton after ice-rink conditions cause crashes

Ice rink-esque conditions have led to two collisions in Nuneaton. In one, close to Clock Hill bridge in Hartshill, has led to a road closure. Warwickshire[1] Police has confirmed it has been called out to two incidents caused by the blanket of ice that has coated the borough this morning.

The first was to a report that a grey Volkswagen reportedly collided with the traffic lights on Clock Hill Bridge. This happened at around 8am and has led to the closure of Atherstone[2] Road, close to the bridge. That area has, of late, been plagued by a water leak.

Only last week there were concerns raised that an accident would be caused[3] in the area as a result of the latest in what has been a number of water leaks in recent months. The stretch of road currently remains closed by highways. Highways officers and the police were also called about Gipsy Lane this morning.

A Warwickshire Police[4] spokesman said: “There was a report of people having issues on Gipsy Lane due to the ice, Highways have attended.”
