Road closure causes major traffic delays after multi-vehicle crash on A69 in Northumberland

Major traffic delays have been caused following a multi-vehicle crash in Northumberland[1]. Emergency services were called to the A69 on Thursday between the A68 Stagshaw and the Syford roundabout, with the A69 Corbridge Bypass Road being closed in both directions. Police remain at the scene and the closure is expected to last several hours, with drivers being urged to avoid the area.

Police have confirmed the eastbound and westbound lanes are currently closed and are set to remain shut for some time. The crash happened shortly after 9am. A Northumbria Police[2] spokeswoman said: "Just after 9am, police received a report of a multi-vehicle collision on the A69 near the roundabout with the A68 in Styford.

Emergency services are currently in attendance. Both the eastbound and westbound lanes are currently closed. The closures are expected to be in place for several hours.

Road users are advised to expect delays, avoid the area where possible, or seek alternate routes."
