Road sealed off in Rowley Regis after gunshots fired

A Black Country street has been sealed off after gunshots were fired[1]. A police cordon is currently in place in Highfield Road, Rowley Regis[2], after 'shots were fired' in the street. Officers discovered a 'damaged' vehicle in the road following reports of the shooting last night (Wednesday, December 27).

A video from the scene shows police searching a vehicle this morning. The road has been cordoned off between its junctions with Waterfall Lane and Beeches Road, as well as its junction with Perry Park Road. It will remain in place while forensic examinations continue today, police said.

The shooting is said to have taken place at about 9.15pm. There have been no reports of injuries, West Midlands Police[5] said. A force spokesman said: "We're investigating after reports of shots being fired in Highfield Road, Rowley Regis[6], at around 9.15pm yesterday (December 27).

"Officers found a vehicle had been damaged, and the road remains closed as forensic examinations continue today. No one has reported being injured, and investigators are reviewing CCTV from the area.
