Roads Closed as Shooting Reported at University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Multiple people were injured and a suspected shooter was dead[1] after reports of gunfire at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) on Wednesday, December 6, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department[2] (LVMPD). The first gunshots were reported shortly before 12 pm in Beam Hall, where a business school is located, according to UNLV[3] officials. About 30 minutes later, police responded to additional gunshots in the Student Union building, they said.
At 12:37 pm, LVMPD announced[4] that the suspect had been “located and is deceased.” A “number of victims” were transported to local hospitals and the investigation was “active and continuing,” police said.[5] These still images captured by traffic cameras close to the campus show multiple emergency vehicles at the gate to the university and police blocking and diverting traffic away from the area.
