Witnesses told police SUV left road for unknown reason

Witnesses told police the SUV was driving west when it left the road for an unknown reason and struck the utility pole, breaking it at its base. The vehicle continued forward and struck a tree, before stopping. The crash caused police to shut down one westbound lane of Route 9 as they investigated.

The Wellesley Municipal Light Plant[8] sent several crews to the scene to deal with live wires and to replace the utility pole. The crash remains under investigation by the Wellesley Police Department's accident reconstruction team. Norman Miller can be reached at 508-626-3823 or [email protected].
