One person has been injured in an early morning motorcycle crash in South Taranaki.

Emergency services responded to the crash on State Highway 45, South Rd, Warea, around 6.20am.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand central shift manager Murray Dunbar said a crew from Okato assisted with a helicopter landing for one patient at the scene.

Hato Hone St John have one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and one rescue helicopter at the scene.

A police spokesperson said the road was closed and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

The serious crash unit is attending.
