Speed camera stolen from ‘accident blackspot’ near Cirencester

A pedestrian was walking past the Stump Pub on Friday, December 8 when he first noticed that the speed camera on the A429 Foss Cross road had been stolen. The man saw that the wires had been cut and expressed concern about the implications of this theft as a motorcyclist died just a few yards away after a three-vehicle crash in May. He said: “The A429 is a well known accident blackspot, at least one fatality took place in 2023 within 200 yards of the camera.

“It looks like the camera has been nicked. “The wires have been cut and were not insulated or secured.” Police officers have urged anyone with information about this theft to get in touch.

Information can be provided to the police by completing a form on Gloucestershire Police’s website[1] quoting incident 313 of December 8.
