Sunderland Durham Road crash: Boy 12 seriously injured

Emergency services were alerted after the collision in the city's Durham Road at about 3pm yesterday (Tuesday, November 5). The boy was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he has been described as "stable condition". A Northumbria Police[1] spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was injured in a collision in Sunderland.

"At around 3pm yesterday (Tuesday) officers were contacted by the ambulance service who were in attendance on Durham Road, responding to reports a schoolboy had been struck by a car. "Officers and emergency services attended the scene and the boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head, and he remains in a stable condition. "The driver remained at the scene and to assist with enquiries and an investigation is ongoing.

"Officers are now asking for anyone with information, or dash cam footage, to get in touch."
