Suspected drink driver arrested after BMW and police car crash

A suspected drink driver was arrested after a crash involving a police car and a BMW. Officers were called to reports of a crash at the flyover on Princess Way and Crosby[1] Road South in Sefton[2] at around 1pm on Friday, December 8. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and he was taken into police custody.

An officer in the police car suffered minor injuries, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said. According to traffic management Inrix, the road was blocked for some time and there was heavy traffic in the area.

Arriva buses were also diverted via Stanley Road, including services 47, 63 and 54.
