Teenager killed in A57 lorry crash as police launch appeal

An 18-year-old man has died following a crash on a busy Lincolnshire[1] road. He was driving a black Chevrolet Spark Plus along the A57 Saxilby Road in Burton, near Lincoln[2], when it collided with a heavy goods vehicle. The incident was reported at around 3.10pm on Wednesday, December 6 and the road[3] was closed until around 12am.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said that the man's next of kin had been informed. An appeal has now been launched for information to give officers a better understanding of what happened. The spokesperson added: "We are appealing for anyone with any information or dashcam footage to email SCIUInvestigators@lincs.police.uk[4] or call 01522 212316.

The Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance was seen attending the incident, landing in the middle of the road. Traffic was badly affected and drivers was asked to avoid the area while the road closure was in place.

The young man's death was confirmed by police at 11am on Wednesday, December 7.
