Load ImageProvincial police are investigating after a hit and run crash that killed a teenager in Norfolk County earlier this week. Emergency crews responded to an address on Fairground Road in Cultus just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
They determined that the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while walking along the road. A 14-year-old boy from Norfolk County sustained severe life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene, police said.
It is described as a dark or grey-coloured pickup truck and is likely to have noticeable damage on its front right corner. Members of the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit and the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team are investigating. Police are asking the public for help.
They're asking anyone who travelled on Fairground Road between 5th Concession Road ENR and 6th Concession Road ENR from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to contact them or Crime Stoppers if they witnessed anything unusual or have footage of the incident on their dash cam.
They're asking residents of the surrounding area to review their surveillance cameras to determine if they recorded the vehicle or pedestrian involved.
