The vehicles have been stored at Longbridge, Birmingham, following MG Rover’s collapse in 2005. Two of the models have now arrived at the museum where they are being prepared for display early next year. One is the RDX60 hatchback concept car from 2003 which was conceived to give MG Rover a more dynamic image but development of the five-door model was dropped, reportedly on cost grounds.

The other is the first MGF sports car to come off the Longbridge line in 1995.

Greenock Telegraph: Three of the six cars due to arrive at the museum are prototypes. MG Motor UK commercial director Guy Pigounakis said: “The MG Rover brand holds a place near to my heart, being the head of commercial operations for the manufacturer in the early 2000s, and so it’s fantastic to see these rare prototypes on display at the British Motor Museum.”

He added that the legacy of the prototypes was greatly valued by MG Motor UK.

The British Motor Museum is located at Gaydon, Warwickshire.
