Tesco shopper in Royal Stoke with ‘serious injuries’ after hit by car

A shopper has been taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after being struck by a car on a Tesco car park. Staffordshire Police[1] are appealing for witnesses following the incident at Uttoxeter Tesco over the weekend. The alarm was raised outside the Town Meadows Way store at around midday on Saturday. A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Uttoxeter[2].

A Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian were involved. “We went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Midlands Air Ambulance. The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time. “The driver of the Corsa stayed at the scene and has been helping collision investigators with their enquiries into what happened. We are keen to speak to anyone with any information or footage from the area that can help us.

West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and an air ambulance to the crash scene. An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian. Upon arrival we found a man who was the pedestrian with serious injuries.

He received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital[4] by land ambulance for further treatment.”

Any witnesses to the collision should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 326 of 16 December.
