Thousands raised for funeral of young woman who died on Christmas Day after quad bike incident
The sister of a young woman who died on Christmas Day[1], is raising funds so the family can say goodbye with a funeral which she ‘truly deserves’. Grace Vater was only 22-years-old when she was involved in a road traffic collision which led to her being airlifted to hospital on December 23, and heartbreakingly, she died two days later. The incident happened on Whitehouse Lane, Shipton Moyne, near Tetbury[2].
It is believed that she fell from a quad bike which overturned. The family could never have prepared themselves for such a tragic incident to happen to the girl they all affectionately call ‘Gracie’. Sister Aisha Vater, 33, from Malmesbury, created a Go Fund Me page[3] to help with funeral costs.
She says the family are grateful to all those who have donated already and the set amount has already been reached in a very short space of time, as donations continue to be made. Sister Aisha said: “I would like to say thank you so much to those in the community where we live and further afield for the donations. Nobody for one moment expected this to happen to Gracie.
“People have been generous, and especially so with the time of year because of Christmas. People we do not even know have donated. “The donations have really touched our hearts.
I know it has given Gracie’s mum, Angela, peace of mind, knowing Gracie will have have the send off she truly deserves. “We set a target which has been reached. Any funds which are left will go to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Service, as they are the ones who got Gracie to hospital.”
Two men were arrested in connection with her death.
Gloucestershire Police have said two men, aged 29 and 30 and from the Cotswolds, have been bailed with conditions to return to police in February, pending further enquiries.
