Three killed on Scotland's roads over the weekend
In the first incident, a Fiat Punto came off the A95 Aviemore to Grantown on Spey road in the Highlands and crashed into a field. Medics attended the accident about a mile north of Drumullie, to treat the two people who had been travelling in the car. Northern Constabulary said one of the men died in hospital from his injuries on yesterday morning.
A second fatal road crash happened on the A9, just north of Plean, Stirlingshire at 10.35pm on Saturday. Central Scotland Police said a male pedestrian died after being hit by a car which was travelling north. The road was closed for five hours to allow crash investigators on to the scene.
Shortly after midnight a man lost control of his vehicle on a bend and it overturned into a field in Fife. Ambulance workers pronounced the driver dead at the scene, on the A914 Cupar to Pitlessie road. The road was closed for some time, but has since reopened.
Police, who have appealed for witnesses, will not reveal details of the deceased until relatives have been informed. Earlier, a serious road accident, which did not prove fatal, happened around 8pm on Saturday on Guild Street in Aberdeen. Grampian Police have appealed for witnesses after a 46-year-old man was hit by a red Vauxhall Astra as he crossed the road between two stationary buses.
The pedestrian was seriously injured.
