Police are searching for a man armed with a knife after three people were attacked in a 'targeted attack' in Toxteth, Liverpool.

Two men and a woman, all in their 30s, were attacked at a property on Upper Warwick Street, Toxteth, at around 1pm on Sunday.

All three suffered serious injuries and have been taken to hospital, Merseyside Police[2] said.

The suspect is said to be known to the victims, the Liverpool Echo[3] reported.

An investigation is now underway with the street having been closed for a forensic examination and enquiries with residents.

Chief Inspector Colin Dyer said 'It appears to be a targeted attack and the suspect is known to the victims.

'This is a shocking incident that has left three people in hospital and we are determined to find the person responsible.

'We are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward to help with our investigation.

'If you witnessed this incident or have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please come forward as a matter of urgency.'

The Liverpool Echo reported that there were at one point three ambulances at the scene before an air ambulance took off from behind a police cordon that had been established.

A neighbour told the newspaper that 'We heard loads of screaming and shouting'.
