Tragedy as Cheshire man, 27, dies in Helsby crash
A 27-year-old has died after his car collided with a tree. Now Cheshire Police want to speak to a driver who stopped at the scene – in Dunham-on-the-Hill – only to leave before the emergency services arrive. Police, paramedics, and firefighters, were called out to Station Lane between Chester[1] Road and Morley Lane at around 5pm on Friday (December 8).
Officers say they found a blue Volkswagen Golf had hit a tree. The driver was released by fire crews and treated by paramedics. However despite everyone’s efforts the 27-year-old man, of Winsford[2], was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family continue to be supported by specialist officers. Sergeant Andrew Dennison, of the force’s serious and complex collision investigation unit, said: “This was a serious collision in which a young man has sadly lost his life and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time. “As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from who witnessed what happened or has any information to aid our investigation.
The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage of the incident. “I’m particularly keen to hear from a driver who initially stopped at the scene following the collision, bur left prior to the arrival of emergency services. The driver was seen leaving in the direction of the A56, Chester Road.”
Witnesses should call the force on 101 and quote IML 1708594. Want more court and crime news? Sign up to our court and crime newsletter here[3]
