Tragedy as driver dies in two-car Leek Road crash
One of the drivers involved in a two-car crash has died. The man – in his 40s – passed away at the Royal Stoke University Hospital[1] today. It followed the collision on Leek Road, in Hanley[2], near the junction with Ivy House Road.
The alarm was raised just after 7am today and the crash scene was cordoned off for a number of hours. The condition of the second driver has not been disclosed. A Staffordshire Police[3] spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision on Leek Road.
We were called just after 7am this morning to reports of a serious collision involving two cars – a Dacia Sandero and a Vauxhall Crossland – near to lime kiln traffic lights. “Officers went to the scene with firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[4] and paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service[5]. Sadly, the driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 40s, died later in hospital.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. “We are keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area or those with any information which could help collision investigators.” Witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 152 of 9 December.
