Tragedy as pedestrian dies in Stoke-on-Trent crash

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car. The victim – a man in his 30s – was pronounced dead following the collision on Weston Road, in Weston Coyney[1]. The tragedy happened at 11.45pm on Saturday.

Now Staffordshire Police[2] want the public’s help to try to piece together the man’s last-known movements. A police spokesman said: “Collision investigators are appealing for information after a man sadly died following a collision in Stoke-on-Trent over the weekend. It happened near Weston Coyney lights in the direction of Cellarhead.

“A grey Honda Civic and a pedestrian were involved. We went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Sadly the pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead a short time later.

His family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time. “The driver of the Honda stayed at the scene and has been helping officers with their enquiries. We’re keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or those with any footage of the area at the time.”

StokeonTrentLive has approached West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] for a statement following the weekend collision.

Witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 863 of December 16.
