Tributes paid to ‘wonderful’ grandad, 54, after horror Bloxwich van smash
Tributes have been paid to a ‘wonderful’ grandad who died in a horrific van crash. David Wellington was fatally wounded when he was involved in the smash in Bloxwich[1]. The collision, which involved a box van, took place on a service road off Bloxwich[2] Road on Tuesday, December 12.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but the 54-year-old could not be saved. West Midlands Police[3] has since confirmed a driver, who remained at the scene, is continuing to help the force with its inquiries. Now, Mr Wellington’s family have paid tribute to the beloved man.
Get breaking news on BirminghamLive WhatsApp[5] In a statement released by police, his family said: “With heavy hearts our family want to pay tribute to a wonderful man, known by many. Our beloved dad, grandad, son, brother and uncle, David, who tragically passed away on December 12, 2023.
“We appreciate all the kind messages and support the community have given us. However, could we ask for privacy while we grieve our loss.” Officers are still asking any witnesses to step forward following the collision, which took place at 10.30am.
