Two die after crash near Newmarket involving ambulance and car

Two people have died following a crash involving a transport ambulance and a car near the Cambridgeshire[1] border. Emergency services were called to the incident on the B1506 Bury Road between Newmarket[2] and Kentford at around 7.30pm on Tuesday December 19. The driver was the only occupant of the car, a blue Volkswagen Golf.

The ambulance contained a driver and two passengers – a man and a woman. The ambulance’s female driver and the male passenger – as well as the Golf’s driver – were all taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries. The other ambulance passenger sustained minor injuries.

On Thursday, December 28, Suffolk[5] Police confirmed the Golf’s driver, a woman in her 70s, has now died following the crash. The male ambulance passenger, who was in his 90s, as also died following the incident. A Suffolk Police spokesperson said: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have any relevant dashcam footage.
