Two men arrested after reported skirmish in Hereford town centre

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs and carrying offensive weapons in Hereford. West Mercia Police officers were called to Widemarsh Street, in the town centre, at around 2.30pm and found two men carrying suspected drugs. Officers tried to arrest the two men who attempted to escape police, West Mercia Police said in a statement.

During the reported skirmish, the force said officers were injured and several weapons were recovered. The two men, both 20, we arrested and taken into police custody. West Mercia Police has thanked the public for their support during the arrest.

Detective Sergeant James Moore said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the public who supported our officers whilst they attempted to arrest the two men.

I appreciate it may have been alarming to some people and please be rest assured this was an isolated incident.

“Drugs ruin lives with the consequences far-reaching and we will not hesitate to disrupt the criminal behaviour of those suspected of being involved”.
