Two pedestrians killed in separate horror crashes just days before Christmas

TWO pedestrians have been killed in separate horror crashes just days before Christmas. A pensioner died in hospital after being hit by a truck on Glasgow Road in Blantyre, Lanarkshire[1] on Tuesday.

A white Isuzu Grafter Flatbed van struck the 84-year-old man at around 5.55pm. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow[2] but sadly died yesterday.

The 53-year-old male driver of the van was arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further enquiries. The busy road was closed for around five hours to allow for investigations to begin.
