Two teenagers have died in a car crash in Northumberland, police have said. The collision involving three vehicles happened on the A192 Hartford Bank, in Cramlington on Friday night. The victims were named by police as Connor Lapworth, 18, who died at the scene, and Corey Mavin, 15, who died in hospital on Saturday.

The pair, both from Blyth, were in a Suzuki Vitara with two other males, aged 41 and 17, who suffered serious injuries and remain in hospital. The other vehicles involved in the crash, which happened at about 21:30 GMT, were a Range Rover Evoque and a Ford Focus, Northumbria Police said. The 36-year-old female driver of the Range Rover suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, while the 52-year-old female driver of the Ford Focus was uninjured.

Sgt Russell Surrey, of Northumbria Police’s motor patrols department, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are firmly with the family and loved ones of the two young people who have sadly lost their lives and those who have suffered injuries in this collision. “We will offer them all of the support they need and ask that their privacy is respected at this time.” Witnesses are being urged to contact police.
