Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash near Invergordon[2] which occurred this morning at around 10.30am. The road has been closed for more than six hours after a crash involving a car and a lorry at Delny. Two people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after the collision.[3]

Police have now confirmed that the road remains closed due to the ongoing collision investigation with diversions in place as follows:

  • Northbound – Turn right onto the B817 at Tomich and travel northbound past Saltburn to the A9/B817 Junction at Kildary – after that, follow permanent signing.
  • Southbound – Turn Left onto the B817 and travel southbound through Saltburn to the A9/B817 Junction at Saltburn and turn right onto the B817 – after that, follow permanent signing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.30am on Tuesday, 19 December, 2023, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A9 near Invergordon. Emergency services are in attendance. Diversions are in place.”

It is unknown how long the closure will last at the time of writing.
