Launched ahead of 2024's arrival of the all-new Grandland and the first-ever Grandland Electric[1], it's the first model from the brand to be offered with 48-volt hybrid technology, delivering lower CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy. It's sold alongside the existing petrol and diesel models as well as the plug-in hybrid and the GSe variant positioned under Vauxhall's electrified performance sub-brand[2].

The powertrain is an increasingly familiar one in the Stellantis stable, also used for various Peugeot models[3]. It combines a 136hp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine with a six-speed dual-clutch electrified gearbox that features an integrated electric motor, powered by a 0.89kWh lithium-ion battery, which is recharged automatically under certain driving conditions. The new mild hybrid powertrain delivers significant efficiency gains compared to the existing 130hp 1.2-litre petrol automatic.

Fuel economy rises to 50.4-51.3mpg (WLTP) compared to 43.4-44.1mpg (WLTP) for the standard petrol. CO2 emissions are also considerably lower at 124-127g/km compared to 144-147g/km for the petrol automatic. The electric motor also enables the Grandland Hybrid to be driven short distances on electric power alone at low speeds.

It's available in Design, GS and Ultimate trims, in keeping with Vauxhall's simplified trim line-up. Entry-level Design trim comes with automatic LED headlights, 17-inch silver-effect alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. Driver assist systems include speed sign recognition, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and cruise control.

GS trim, priced at GBP34,675, adds the Multimedia Pure Panel Navigation system with a 10-inch touchscreen featuring satellite navigation and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Comfort and convenience features include a wireless charger for mobile devices, sports-style front seats approved by Germany's Campaign for Healthier Backs, heated steering wheel and rear-view parking camera. GS models also gain 18-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels, a black roof and high-gloss black exterior detailing.

The top-rung Ultimate comes in at GBP38,325 and adds Vauxhall's adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel headlights and LED front fog lights, an upgraded parking camera with a 360-degree panoramic view, plus power-operated tailgate and keyless entry and start use.

Advanced driver assist systems, including lane positioning assist and adaptive cruise control, also feature, while design upgrades bring 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and black Alcantara seat trim inserts.

Order books are open now and first deliveries start from early 2024.
