West Mercia Police increase patrols in Kidderminster
Police from the Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) in North Worcestershire proactively patrolled parts of the Horsefair and town centre to prevent violent offences and engage with youths and the wider public. The action was in response to reports of robberies, thefts, anti-social behaviour and drugs in the town. The police are also raising awareness of cuckooing where the home of a vulnerable person is taken over by a criminal to use it to deal, store or take drugs.
Detective Sergeant Kirsty Hill, from the NCFT, said: “We have been out and about in this targeted operation and spoken to shop owners and conducted foot patrols and mobile patrols. “Residents have been made aware of our presence as have the nominals associated with this exercise to address areas of community concern. “We have attended addresses in the vicinity which are known cuckooing addresses or addresses of interest.
Numerous stop searches were carried out and further intelligence has been gathered.”
