Where you can see famous Royal Scot train travel through Derbyshire today
An iconic train will be making its way across the Peak District today. Train spotters keen to see the Royal Scot locomotive will not be disappointed as the famous train travels through several Derbyshire villages[1] on Tuesday, December 12. Built in 1927, ‘Royal Scot’ was the flagship locomotive of the London, Midland and Scottish (LMS) Railway Company[2].
It was the first in a new breed of steam locomotives capable of hauling heavy trains over the steep gradients found on the West Coast Route. The Royal Scot’s journey is part of the Christmas White Rose experience that will see the locomotive travel through the Pennines from Rugby to York – via the Peak District. Guests on the train will be treated to a fine dining experience with spectacular views throughout the journey.
