Why traffic was held on M6 following reports of ‘police incident’
The incident occurred on the M6 heading northbound on Saturday afternoon. North West Motorway Police posted a notice warning of standing traffic on the motorway between junctions 20 for Lymm and 19 for Northwich and Knutsford at Tabley. This warned motorists of an ongoing ‘police incident’ shortly after midday.
Now, days after the incident, Cheshire Police has confirmed that this incident was a three-car crash. A spokesman for the force said: “At 12.03pm on Saturday, December 23, police attended a three-vehicle collision on the M6 northbound between junction 19 and 20. “The collision involved a silver Ford Focus, a black Mercedes V250 and a silver Nissan Note.
“There were no reports of any serious injuries, but traffic was temporarily stopped while officers managed the collision.”
