Wirral men arrested after crashing into lamp post during police chase

At around 1.45am on Sunday (December 3), officers were on patrol and spotted a silver Vauxhall Astra van traveling at high speed and driving dangerously on Hoylake Road, Moreton. Following a police pursuit the van collided with a lamp post and following a police chase the two men were arrested. Both men were taken to hospital to be assessed as a precautionary measure and were later taken to custody.

A 40-year-old man from Neston and a 30-year-old man from Moreton were arrested on suspicion of driving dangerously, driving while unfit through drugs and driving while disqualified. They have been released under investigation. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses, and for any CCTV and dash camera footage which may have captured the incident, to please get in touch to assist the investigation.
