Woman, 20, killed in horror Co Fermanagh road collision named
A 20-year-old pedestrian who lost her life in a road traffic collision in Co Fermanagh[1] this week was originally from Co Cavan. Niamh King from Newtownbutler was originally from Killeshandra. She died following a collision on the Belfast Road, Lisbellaw on Wednesday evening at around 5.50pm.
She had reportedly left work to get her bus home.
A 25-year-old man who was arrested following the fatal collision has been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries to take place. Locals said Niamh ”was a lovely pleasant wee girl who always had a big smile on her face and always by her mummy’s side.
Heaven has gained another angel.” In a statement, the PSNI[4] said investigations are ongoing at this time. Niamh is survived by her mother Nicola, brothers of Robin and Daniel and sister Leila.
A service of thanksgiving for the life of Niamh will take place on Sunday at 2pm in Galloon Parish Church, Newtownbutler, followed by interment in the adjoining churchyard. A death notice added: “In memory of Niamh’s bright and colourful personality, everyone in attendance is asked to wear bright colours on the day.” A memorial fundraising page[5] has been set up online and donations in memory of Niamh are to create a new area at the Fermanagh Fun Farm in her memory for the animals.
It described Niamh as “a real animal lover” who “loved her job caring for all the rescued and adopted animals who live at Fermanagh Fun Farm”. It added: “Niamh was a pleasure to work with and had a lovely, caring nature.” Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have captured dash-cam or other footage in the area at the time to please get in touch by calling 101, quoting reference 1600 13/12/23.
